Properties of Point Mass Lenses on a Regular Polygon and the Problem of Maximum Number of Images

چکیده

We study the critical curves, caustics, and multiple imaging due to one of the simplest many-body gravitational lens configurations: equal-mass point masses on the vertices of a regular polygon. Some examples of the critical curves and caustics are also displayed. We pose the problem of determining the maximum number of lensed images due to regularpolygon and general point mass configurations. Our numerical simulations suggest a maximum that is linear, rather than quadratic, in the number of point masses.

A Fast Algorithm for Covering Rectangular Orthogonal Polygons with a Minimum Number of r-Stars

Introduction This paper presents an algorithm for covering orthogonal polygons with minimal number of guards. This idea examines the minimum number of guards for orthogonal simple polygons (without holes) for all scenarios and can also find a rectangular area for each guards. We consider the problem of covering orthogonal polygons with a minimum number of r-stars. In each orthogonal polygon P,...

Calculations of Dihedral Groups Using Circular Indexation

‎In this work‎, ‎a regular polygon with $n$ sides is described by a periodic (circular) sequence with period $n$‎. ‎Each element of the sequence represents a vertex of the polygon‎. ‎Each symmetry of the polygon is the rotation of the polygon around the center-point and/or flipping around a symmetry axis‎. ‎Here each symmetry is considered as a system that takes an input circular sequence and g...

Another Method for Defuzzification Based on Regular Weighted ‎Point‎

‎A new method for the defuzzification of fuzzy numbers is developed in this paper. It is well-known, defuzzification methods allow us to find aggregative crisp numbers or crisp set for fuzzy numbers. But different fuzzy numbers are often converted into one crisp number. In this case the loss of essential information is possible. It may result in inadequate final conclusions, for example, expert...

Five Point Mass Gravitational Lenses in a Rhombus as a Soluble Model Giving the Maximum Number of Images

As an extension of four point mass lenses at the vertices of a rhombus, we present five point mass lenses at the center and vertices of a diamond, which constitute, for a source behind the center, a soluble model giving expressions of all the image positions (with the maximum number of images as twenty for five lenses). For a source near the center, all the image positions are obtained in the l...

Single-Point Visibility Constraint Minimum Link Paths in Simple Polygons

We address the following problem: Given a simple polygon $P$ with $n$ vertices and two points $s$ and $t$ inside it, find a minimum link path between them such that a given target point $q$ is visible from at least one point on the path. The method is based on partitioning a portion of $P$ into a number of faces of equal link distance from a source point. This partitioning is essentially a shor...
